Pushdown Automata with Reversal-Bounded Counters

The main result of this paper is that a pushdown automaton M augmented with R(n) reversal-bounded counters can be simulated by a Turing machine in time polynomial in n”’ + R(n) if M is 2-way, and in time polynomial in n + R(n) if M is l-way. It follows from this and previous results that for sufficiently large R(n), the addition of a pushdown store to R(n) reversal-bounded multicounter machines...

The Existence of w-Chains for Transitive Mixed Linear Relations and Its Applications

In this paper, we show that it is decidable whether a transitive mixed linear relation has an ω-chain. Using this result, we study a number of liveness verification problems for generalized timed automata within a unified framework. More precisely, we prove that (1) the mixed linear infinitely often problem for a timed automaton with dense clocks, reversal-bounded counters, and a free counter i...

Model Checking Recursive Programs with Numeric Data Types

Pushdown systems (PDS) naturally model sequential recursive programs. Numeric data types also often arise in real-world programs. We study the extension of PDS with unbounded counters, which naturally model numeric data types. Although this extension is Turingpowerful, reachability is known to be decidable when the number of reversals between incrementing and decrementing modes is bounded. In t...

Decidable models of integer-manipulating programs with recursive parallelism (technical report)

We study safety verification for multithreaded programs with recursive parallelism (i.e. unbounded thread creation and recursion) as well as unbounded integer variables. Since the threads in each program configuration are structured in a hierarchical fashion, our model is stateextended ground-tree rewrite systems equipped with shared unbounded integer counters that can be incremented, decrement...
